01 December 2010
This December, join in a Sacramento holiday tradition with the Sacramento Master Singers. Since 1982, this local chamber choir has delighted audiences with a diverse array of musical performances; 2010 marks the 25th season of director Ralph Hughes’ annual holiday program.
This year, the Master Singers will present “Peace, Peace,” a unique Christmas program featuring favorite carols, exciting new work, and a candlelight processional in the striking and cathedral-like Saint Francis Church in Midtown Sacramento. Two evening and two afternoon performances are scheduled. The choir will also present “Jingle All the Way,” a 45-minute holiday concert for children on December 18th at 2 p.m. “Jingle All the Way” will feature familiar songs and give children the chance to sing along with the choir.
The Sacramento Bee has called the Master Singers’ holiday performances “sublime” and “subtle,” and audience members have raved about the choir. “The arrangements, in their harmonic and rhythmic sophistication, were gorgeous,” said one of last year’s holiday concert attendees. “[We were] transported us to another dimension outside the realm of time and space.”
The Sacramento Master Singers also offer several holiday CDs for sale on their website.
